It’s an important day for actress Arkoja Acharyya, whose show ‘Shreyosi’ is all set to hit the small screen today (July 18). Ahead of its launch, the actress, who started her acting career with theatre and eventually made TV debut with 'Ogo Nirupoma', poured her heart out in an exclusive chit chat with ETimes TV.
“I have butterflies in my stomach. I am happy, excited, nervous at the same time (laughs). It’s a mixed feeling. I can’t wait to watch the first episode and at the same time, I am a bit nervous about it too,” says Arkoja.
The actress shared how her mom is super excited about the new show. The actress shares, “Mom is more excited than me about the show’s launch. Prior to the launch, I had appeared on Good Morning Akash and 'Radhuni', the culinary show as a part of the promotion. While the music show has already been aired in the morning, Radhuni is aired at a noon slot. And mom, who is super excited about it, has switched on the TV in the early morning and kept it on since then, so that she doesn’t miss it (laughs).”
Arkoja turned a bit nostalgic and shared how she, her mother along with the neighbours had watched the first episode of her debut show ‘Ogo Nirupoma’. “I watched the first episode of my first show along with Maa and all our neighbours together.
It was a different feeling that I will always cherish. Mom has a similar plan for today as well. I don’t know when we will have the pack-up, but I want to watch the first episode of Shreyosi home,” Arkoja adds.
In the Lopamudra Sinha-hosted culinary show, Arkoja prepared mutton kebab. “I had a really good time during the shoot of Radhuni, hosted by Lopa Di. I was a bit hesitant about how the dish would turn out but thankfully, I managed to prepare mutton kebab (laughs). It’s not that I cook frequently but I utilised the time during the lockdown and honed my cooking skills. It came in handy during the shoot of Radhuni,” says Arkoja.
Meanwhile, the actress has been busy preparing for the role she is playing in ‘Shreyosi’, which stars Sayan Karmakar as the male lead. “The character I am playing is a very calm and quiet girl. I want to portray that calmness on screen while playing the character. So, besides, reading the script again and again. Our director Anindya Da helps me realise the sequence and get under the skin of the reel character. Since we are shooting in real-life locations, the sequences look more convincing. I am having a beautiful experience which is helping me develop as an artist,” she says.
